I need to replace some screws on a 30 year old Yamaha Piano. They are on hinges on the lid so quite visible. They are brass counter-sunk with a small Phillips head.

4 x 1/2 are far too big so presumably looking for a no. 3 or even a no. 2 gauge.

They are fairly readily available slotted but not as a phillips .

Does anyone have any idea of a possible source ?

I doubt the originals are brass. I've never seen any brass screw in PZ , let alone ones that small - I would think the heads would chew up too easily. At that size I doubt a man on a galloping horse could tell brass from yellow passivated or brassed steel.

The clockmakers site I found says that no 2 screw heads are 4mm, no 3 are 4.5mm and no 4 are 5mm. Otherwise, below that I can only find steel pozi/Philips screws. Maybe measure one of your remaining screws to be certain?

Try model making and clockmaking suppliers - the former came good for the set screws for my 1920s banjo tuners.
