Hi
I will be cladding my new workshop in 3/4" shiplap using a framing nailer and 50mm ring shank nails :D
I have done this b4 and always nailed them secretly AND put a nail just below centre.
Do you think it is nessacary to nail them twice?
I will be using dewalt full round headed nails.

Thanks

Mike

I would have thought that if you were going to put a nail in the outside of the shiplap you might as well forget the secret nail and just put two nails at 1/3 distance. I only tend to use secret nails for cladding inside the house or in furniture were nails would spoilt the piece.

I usually use one nail about 1/2" above the rebate It stops it cupping but also allows the shiplap to expand and contract without splitting.

Ah! Ok ta
I think i'll try one nail then and i can always add another later if necessary :)

Thanks

Mike
