as you say you have cable to the end wall i would second jimmy s's suggestion for a cable under the grass in a spade slit and under the gravel through 20mm conduit. I would use ordinary cat5 cable (you know where it runs under the garden so in theory no danger of digging it up) it may be a temp solution but cable undisturbed will last for years. and it is cheap to start with!!

I have patio all round the house, I really don't want to cut the grout out.

any chance of "flying " the cable from house to the garage like a telephone cable
you would need a catenary cable to fix the ethernet cable to but as the top of the garage is high could you come out of the house loft

Smart buttocks I did as well ran the cctv cable and forgot the ethernet.

Anyway, powerline to router, powerline to TV has worked a treat, I have a little home gym I use, hopefully a bit of iplayer will allow me to catch up on a few programmes whilst running.
