Hi morfa....... Very nice video find and what a good adaptation he did with that sewing machine ! =D>
The only thing I think he missed was not having a bearing or bush for the upper blade/piston rod.
Without a bearing the rod will soon wear the wood and create excessive play adding to vibration and accuracy.
I'm sure if he uses the saw a lot, he's smart enough to add such a simple but vital upgrade.

Such conversions are quite common in 1880-1910 books.

Which is odd, because scroll saws were cheer than (precision made) sewing machines.
