I have started to make plans for a router table =D> and would like recommendations for a realistic but practical size for the table. like many people I do not have acres of room. I have looked at some proprietary hobby type tables to get an idea of the sizes eg 600x500 X 800x600 would these sizes be about right :?:

Thanks

It depends a bit on what you plan to make but 600x500 upwards would work. I am in the process of making one that will be about that. 800x600 would probably be a but better but the added footprint may be a nuisance to some (would be for me).

It all depends on what you make.

Walk into any commercial workshop and you'll see craftsmen with inverted routers fixed in a vice, they're using the sole of the router as a small router table and it's surprising what can be achieved just with this set up. Go up to the 500 x 600mm table you mention in your post and you're well covered for most furniture sized components.

Thanks for the replies, I cut a piece of hardboard to 600x500 to see how the footprint would fit amongst my other machines and think it will be fine without me loosing any weight :) and actually looking at its size, it does seem like it will be fine for my needs.

Again thanks
