ripping on a bandsaw

might sound like a stupid question but if i was to rip a piece of timber down the middle when each side are uneven so that the rip is straight how do i go about it?

mount it on a sled, with one straight side to use against the guide.

As above, or have a long enough fence so the points of the wood are touching throughout the whole cut.

If your planing after it, draw a line down and freehand?

I had the same problem when trying to rip railway sleepers into planks.
They were uneven on both sides, so I used tiny nails to attach a straight piece of plywood to the sleepers and then I ran the straight plywood against the fence and got my boards ripped that way. I works a treat.

If you do that with tree trunks, they tend to roll and that twists the bandsaw band.

mark each end then stretch a chalk line ping it then follow the line freehand
