Replacement table for table saw (!)

Hiya

I've bought some spares/repairs bits.
One is an Inca table saw...without the table. My primary inerest was the X-Y mortising table...but it would be lovely to have the saw running again.
Would birch ply be stiff enough? I can't go too thick because the blade is only 8".

I'm chasing down a motor and then will think about building the cabinet!
