This is fantastic news! I've had both my corneas replaced in order to stop me going blind due to disease. But two people had to be generous enough to donate to me when they no longer needed theirs. Many people who need what I had are not so fortunate, as there are not enough donors to go around.
With this technique, there will be no such shortages and no waiting lists (well there might be for beds and surgeons, but not for the organs themselves).
Too late for me, but this could be a game-changer for those who come after me.
