Chatting to one of the locals, he mentioned a few gems.
If you're a farmer and want to take a few sheep to market....say, in a trailer attached to your Land Rover then you're OK up to 40 mile radius. Between 40 mile and 60 miles, you have to apply for a permit. And after 60 miles, you must have a Satnav fitted so that you go the shortest distance.
If you run a farm and have a few rats then you can get the man from the Ministry in (and presumably pay for the privilege) or you can sort out the rats yourself. BUT...if you sort them out yourself (the rats, I mean) and you later find a dead rat then you have to ring up the Ministry and they send a man out to collect it (presumably again at a cost).
