Hi all..new to forum, so please excuse if this has been asked before.

Just purchased a 12" disc sander, and gone with Record as it seems better quality than Charnwood offering at the same price (£200).

Also considering a band saw, looking at either the small Charnwood 10" (or 12" if I can afford it) or Record. I guess they are both "Chinese", just wondering on thoughts about which supplier to go for? The dealer has offered me a small discount on the Charnwood, but can't do anything on the Record.

Ant input appreciated....

Many thanks.

i would go with the record. i am not very keen on charnwood stuff when i have seen it at shows.

you will probably get a discount on record if you find where they are doing a show or event . they also have a 5 year warranty on the motor which is a plus.

Axminster are worth a look. I have one of theirs and it will give anything a run for its money.

No experience of Charnwood, but my Record is very good indeed. If not in a rush buy from the next show event Record are doing near you as they often do excellent deals. For example I just got my PT with £300 off the Record online price, same story last year with my band saw.

Good luck.

Terry.

..thanks for the feedback.....noted there is a "show" at Paskins in March...thinks I will go....so thanks for that...

At the show, you should get a discount and free delivery. I had the larger Record BS400 from Paskins and have had other Record equipment from them as well. Nice company to deal with.
