Record Band Saw

Has any one tried truing, grinding, machining or smoothing the back and side of the Record band saw table, as this is a very rough finish?

Any hints welcome

I spent 15mins and 3 or 4 sheets of 40grit on a half sheet sander on my bandsaw table because of the rough machining marks - not quite the same, but worthwhile.

I've not bothered with mine because it's not too bad to be fair. But as Phil says, metal responds very positively to a low grit abrasive applied with a flat substrate. Going carefully and well masked up, you could hold a random orbital vertically to speed things up since its not a reference surface for anything, just cosmetic.

This will help as when I passed close to the table the other day my overalls got snagged and torn on a ragged portion. If that had been my hand, well :roll: :roll:
