Does anybody have any experience with small projectors such as this?

http://www.tomtop.com/home-led-projecto ... GwodZE0CRA

I am looking for something small, that can sit on my desk at work, and project onto the wall/whiteboard about 5 feet away. It will be for presentations, spreadsheets, documents to save people having to squint to see a monitor, which is a pain when they want to discuss something. Image quality needs to be suitable for reading, but it wont be for films, photographs etc.

do you work in a very dark room?
if the answer is no, don't bother, they cant throw enough light to be seen in more than a little bit of light.
how big of a text do you want to read?
if the answer is less than 30pt then don't bother, they aren't clear enough for that.
5ft will only project a screen 30" ish and at such a low light level and resolution it will be all but useless.
480x320 resolution, how exactly is that 1080p? (hint, it isn't, 1,920x1,080 is though, clue is in the numbers)
in short, don't waste your money, they aren't good enough yet. they are getting there though. maybe buy a bigger monitor instead. :)
there are some pico projectors which are around 200 notes that are ok but even there they can't really be used for work purposes.

thanks. i will park the idea for 12 months then and check back!

I thought projectors were viewed as old school nowadays and it was all large screen monitors instead?

yeah, maybe. but work won't buy me a large monitors for impromptu explanations and presentations to people, and whilst I don't mind chucking %0 quid to buy myself a small projector (if it did the job), I am not stretching to a few hundred for a big monitor, not that I really have the space for that.

what you are after is called a "short throw" projector. BenQ and Mitsubishi make some good models, go to www.avforums.com to do a bit of research about up to date models/tech etc as it's been a few years since i was that game.

and be prepared to pay 300+ quid for it. epson and sony short throws are very very good, but they aren't cheap as has been talked about above, they aren't small either.

we use a sony at a photography club, the image is 6' at 2' throw (ish) with good enough quality to look at very high definition images.

none of this is helpful to you though is it. :)
