Problem with Startrite a Bandit

Not sure if anyone can help me on this, I have just bought a single speed startrite bandit with a full raft of original attachments. It has a problem with the throat height adjustment, insofar as I cannot adjust it. It is set to about 6". I have the original manual, there us nothing in it to say how the height can be changed, however the large knob on the front would appear to be the one to slacken the guide bush carrier bar. Not even a drift will move it. Can anyone suggest a way forward? Many thanks.

The large knob on the front should adjust the height up and down. You could always e-mail one of the sellers on the above link to help?
