preserving softwood bath?

Hello, does anyone know if I can treat softwood in a 'bath style' way, I have a lot of t+g pine surplus and want to make some garden planters. There must be a better way than paint on preservative, but not buying pressure treated stuff, which seems to be cost prohibitive.

Presumably,yes - I have seen people build a frame,line with plastic sheet,then use it to immerse timber in preservative in them.
Unfortunately,don't know how long you would need to leave it to soak for,though :-k
