Plunge and circular saw blades

Hey chaps,

This is my first post and probably a silly question.

Is there any difference between a circular saw blade and a plunge saw blade?

I'm looking for a rip blade for my dewalt plunge saw and i'm wondering if I can just use a blade from the 'circular saw blades' sections online.

Obviously the 20mm x 165mm will remain the same and I'm aware the kerf may differ meaning the splinter guard strips will need to be specifically for one blade.

But is there something I'm not thinking of?

No-one? Well, I'll 'plunge' in and say 'No' there is no difference.

No doubt someone will be along later to dispute this!

I guess there isnt a difference although a saw blade with anti kick back may help reduce snatching. I dont have experience in use so cant say if they make a difference in plunge applications. Has anybody tried these in plunge saws? -I wonder if they actually wont plunge well?.....

You may want to read this but as I understand it you only need to worry about rake when buying blades for a RAS.

Thanks for that, very informative. As you say it seems to apply only to RAS.

For anyone else searching I talked to Dewalt customer service and they confirmed there is no difference and I am free to use any blade.
