planer blades

I recently had an issue with a stuck stud on my el cheapo clone p/t (sealey) I got the stud out and thought I would try and regrind them myself on my wadkin grinder which has provision for blades. I did one fine but made a balls up of the second. I thought no biggy they wont be silly money for a new set. I contacted sealey and they wanted £45 per blade.
I can get 18" blades from wadkin cheaper.

If you can find a saw sharpening service, they will also regrind straight adge blades. Just had mine done on the axminster lunch box planer. a couple quid for the pair.

I've got a local place which I've used a few times, I'm always keen to learn a new process. I will keep on trying with the old blades.
I was really surprised at the price of the replacement blades, £90 for a pair of 210mm blades is silly

I think I pay about £12+vat for 400mm HSS irons -the standard 30mm x 3mm type

£90 for 2 small ones is a rip off

That price does sound expensive ! Have you tried anywhere else, or are they unique to sealey?

Not according to my price list.
Get a price from a sealey distributor because sealey will never undercut the price that their stockist sell for.

Look at the woodford site. I've just bought a couple of pairs for my Kity. They are not very much more than the cost of resharpening my old ones (because my local tool shop sends them off and they add their cut plus £3 for the collection and delivery).

I have searched high and low for specific sealey ones with no luck, the titan machine looks to be a direct match to my machine just a different colour. Ebay have the blades for £22 so worth a punt. I measured my old blades and there 210mm long and less than 2mm thick.
