His Lordship is thinking of getting me a small lathe this Christmas for making pens and suchlike. I don't have much space in the workshop so there would be no point buying a full-sized lathe.

What would be a good lathe to buy?

If you don't want to go that small then Axminster, Fox, Jet and I think Record all do mini lathes though not as mini as Dave's.

put "mini lathe woodturning" into a UK google search and you'll be spouilt for choice. Use the woodturning or you will have loads of metalwork ones come up as well

I would recomend the Axminster AWVSL HERE

It is the one I use for pens and is very good.

I'll sell you one of these

for £80 plus postage if you're interested (about £150 ish currently). I bought it about 4 years ago to do 2 demonstrations and it's been sitting in the workshop ever since.

PM me if you're interested.

Cheers

Many thanks for your help, everyone. His Lordship has read this thread and now I shall have to wait and see what Santa puts on his sled for me :ho2 .
