Thank you, Philly. That video very well illustrates how hand tools are not necessarily slower than power tools.

The accompanying music also complements the work. Much better than the green woodworking chap who forces me to listen to "techno" whilst he is turning on a pole lathe.

I have a question:
I saw you use the nicker blade across the grain as well as long the grain.
So, is alwais better to leave the nicker in position?

Marc - here's the picture from the video. Hope this helps?

Giuliano, I always leave the nicker in place - if it is set to its optimum position then it causes no problems working with the grain - it may even help.
