Packaging 26inch cross cut saws for postage.

How would you pack yours for postage?
I'm thinking of having a saw cull, the little, and not so little blighters have been breeding behind my back!
Its just how to pack them to ensure the postie doesn't bend them.

Cut a groove in a piece of 1"x1" or 2" x 1" and sit the saw teeth in the groove and tape the timber onto the saw

I always use a double wall strong cardboard box and plenty of packing material.

Never had a problem - yet.

Don't use post office anything over 24" long costs over 12 quid!

Scrap selotex Insulation makes good packaging material. Quite strong, reasonably stiff, and very light.
You can cut a central section around the object to be posted, then sandwich it from both sides with two more layers

I've never had to send a saw, but I've received a few. The best packaged (from a secondhand dealer) was in a custom-made thick cardboard box (the sort of thick cardboard that domestic appliances like televisions are sometimes packaged in) about 2" longer and wider than the saw, and about 3" deep. The saw was well wrapped in bubble-wrap, and the spare space packed with the same. The box was well sealed with parcel tape.

The worst packaged (from an Ebay seller) was held to a piece of cardboard of cornflake-box type with cling-film, and wrapped in a bin-bag. The couriers had sealed it in a stronger polythene bag, but there was nothing to support the saw; miraculously, it arrived unbent.

That's exactly how I do it. I make up the boxes from double wall cardboard sheets that I get from a market trader. Only takes 5 minutes once you get the knack.
