This Owl was cut from 7/8" Irish Elm and sits on an Oak base.

Thanks for looking and a happy new year to you all.

Very nice piece, I like birds of prey and this would be great to sit at the top of the stairs. Great workmanship. Where does the pattern come from, I would like to try this one for myself.

Brilliant piece of work. I love the contrast between the elm and the oak. Lovely cutting and finish. Well done.

Love it Philip. The Owl is similar to one in the November issue of CW&C,which is a Great Horned Owl.The pattern is one of Jacob Fowler, and has been cut out by his son Wayne. When I get time later in the year and will probably cut it out.

Good on Ya ,Phil.

Lovely piece of work ,I get panned out just looking at all the cuts .

Thanks for posting .

Thanks all for the kind words!

Bryan, it is the same pattern, but I have it in the January 2005 issue of the magazine.
Jacob Fowler seems to specialize in these kind of designs, generally I'm not a fan of them but this one caught my eye.

Brendan, we are indeed a rare breed. Though the upshot of that is that there is less competition, so making a few quid from the craft is a bit easier :)

Philip the one that you have cut is slightly different to the one in the November issue,I have a Owl door plaque and do really enjoy that type of projects.I am a little limited to the wood that I can get from my friend Keith.
