A few years ago to make up a screwfix order to over £50 for free postage I added a selection box of 200 springs.

Finally today I used one after my lathe bristol lever screw and spring fell out. I found the screw but lost the spring in all the shavings on the floor or in the extractor. Within the selection box was the perfect replacement :)

Now I only have 199 springs left (but 7 more of the design I used today).

In a similar vein I have more than a lifetime's O rings 'just in case'.

I do that - buy boxes of various size 'things' that might be useful like the box of 'O' rings from Lidl that had exactly the size I needed to replace one on a Hozelock fitting two days ago - I was delighted, all the purchases were justified!

Hello Mr Roy
Rubbish! I intend living long enough to use every last one of 'em!

That is a lofty goal if your ORings are as many as mine. :D
But as I told my friend on the way to the electric chair, more power to you.
