Hello, I have recently bought a small Inca table saw from a forum member and would be grateful for some advice please.

I have been working on it to give it a good service, new blade, bearings, riving knife etc.

The advice that I am after please, relates to the electrical side of things: It has a 240V motor of unknown origin and an old "STARTET" switch. The saw is on a metal frame. I would like a safe, reliable machine.

Would anyone know a motor specialist that could advise me on my options. Potential costs/benefits for a new/reconditioned motor; swopping to an NVR switch etc.

At the very least I will need to put new wiring on it, but before I start to tinker I thought I'd ask others their opinions, some pictures will follow, thank you.

Motor and "STARTET" switch.

There is no benefits having a new motor put on, unless you have employees working for you, or your in a place which a motor brake
is required.
I would hold onto that nice old motor as they don't make things like they used to, especially motors.

Make a suitable riving knife for it first, if the motor works, and the bearings are fine
If your trying to make your machine safer you could design a paddle switch to hit with your knee.
Thats what I done with my machine after getting the idea from a Carl Holmgren tablesaw youtube video
I have a dowel that presses the button instead of flipping a toggle,
You really have to intend to turn my machine on, as you will be hitting it off at the same time, so it wont go on if you dont intend to turn it on.

Thank you Tom. I will check out your suggestions.
I like the machine - it is getting better with each mod. I made two riving knives one for each of the new (different diameter) saw blades.
Best regards,
Michael.
