Paul, I saw many of these tools either in action, or hanging up on the wall of a byre or stable as I grew up - having an agricultural labourer and a blacksmith respectively for two grandparents made many of them familiar implements. That was the mid-late Sixties. Increasing prosperity and industrialisation in the north of Ireland saw them largely superceded, but your link reminded me very poignantly of an anvil and forge with the distinctive metallic clink of the smithy hammer; Thanks.
