After trawling through some American Turning sites I found these ideas for using up some of those offcuts.

Not that I have many offcuts yet but getting there.

Barry.

Could, of course, do with sharper pictures.

It is all illusion really as you can't add detail that is not there.

However with a picture editing/manipulation package such as Adobe Photoshop (Light version will do) you can adjust the Contrast and apply various Sharpening filters which attempt to fill in some of the 'missing' information.

To the human eye/brain there is a perceived improvement.

Even Microsoft Picture Manager can do some basic 'enhancements' such as 'Auto correct' or adjust brightness and contrast.

There are many open source programs available that will do similar.

You would be surprised what can be done....never trust a photo eh Chas!!!

Look for paint.net on the miscrosoft site, a free download that will do much of it. Alternatively you can get something like Paintshop Pro cheap on e-bay if you go for ersion 7 or 8, if your interested I'll get some notes to you. I teach graphic manipulation so have some stuff that might be useful.
