Just researching the above and it looks as though it is not cost effective to make your own oak flooring, but it does look like it is cheaper to make your own skirting and architrave?

Just wanted to see if anyone has investigated this before ?

Thanks

Buy in sawn timber and it will always be cheaper.
But personally I'd shop around and buy it in.

I thought £5 - £6 for a 95mm * 19mm * 1m length of bull nose oak skirting was rather expensive, especially considering a cu ft of 25mm oak can be bought for ~ £27

I'm a tight wad, I made my own! But being logical, woodwork is what we are about.

Buying small quantities of anything will usually be an expensive way of doing it. I think you could probably do better than the above price on the skirting.
