Hi everyone,
Some years ago I bought a NuTool 4.5" angle grinder in Makro, cost me £12 + VAT. Although it was a cheapie it has actually worked quite well, although for extended periods of work I use my Hitachis (2 from Screwfix, a 4.5" and a 9" for about £80 special offer). It is handy not to have to keep changing disks, so a cheapie is worth having just for that. Anyway the switch was getting a bit sticky and now has packed in altogether, so I was wondering if anyone has a burnt out or otherwise b*ggered model that they wouldn't mind cannibalising for the switch. Otherwise I'll fit it into a stand and wire up a plug and socket on the bench adjacent.

Many thanks.

While on the subject, I bought a B&D angle grinder years ago (nearly 30 years), a black 'professional' model. It still works fine, although it has a 10mm shaft which is a bit inconvenient. I now have an adapter to fit 14mm disks so it's back in use again. It has done sterling service since I've had it, although it did cost me £85. At one time makes like Wolf, Bridges and (to a lesser extent) B&D were indicators of quality tools - not any more I believe. Does anyone remember those big, slow-running B&D brutes with a D handle at the back? Not an ounce (sorry gramme) of plastic and solid as a rock.

Never used B&D of that size, but reckon the similaR Wolf with D-handle and long side handles could have been used with a soil auger to bore holes for fence posts :D . Assuming it didn't catch and spin you round like a satellite :!:

Yes Wizard, those look like the jibs I'm talking about, and as Dickm says, they'll just about take your arm off if you're not careful - no safety clutch in those days.

Found them all at car boot sales and got them all working now, cost from two pounds and four pounds each, use them all the time. One millers falls and three wolf.
