I like a few others from the dark side havent posted much for a good while, but as there seems to be a change in attitude recently, mainly due to some excellent Mod'ing by leoN, i thought i'd bore you all with some building work.

Ok, not much woodwork (yet), but maybe of interest to some-

For the next 8 weeks i'm building a detached garage with a home office, followed by a variety of home improvements for the same client.

Week1-
We started by clearing some of the small bushes and a small tree from the site (full pp).

Next, came setting out and pulling the foundations. This was slightly more awkward than usual due to the odd shape of the building.

The trenches were 1200 deep x 600 wide. This one was stepped as there was a noticeable change in ground conditions.

All dug and passed by the inspector, time to concrete

The following day was spent getting footing blocks to just below ground level

Next day we back filled all the trenches and stoned up the bases

We also took delivery of most of the bricks and blocks we'll be using for the job. Fortunately for us these ones came pre aged..

The blockwork got started too-

Update-
Ok Monday, we got a fair bit more masonry done, and the concrete for both floors done.

The troweling up of the concrete was made very easy by use of a 5m Easy float-

The concrete was hard enough today to work off, so more block and brickwork-

Another couple of days and we'll be ready for scaffold.
