Hello,

I have recently purchased my first lathe, it is a second hand Coronet No1. I am in need of a little advice and guidance with regards to set up and general use.

Is there anywhere i can obtain a o&m manual for the lathe? Ideal place to buy spares as i have found a few make shift parts and would like to replace with an original / replica.

I am looking forward to setting my workshop up and having a go, not touched one since i was last at school.

Chris

Hello, Thank you for the warm welcome.

Silly question but... how do you or do you have to lock the pronged drive, this would be on the Coronet no1 ? Complete amateur here

Assuming the coronet has a Morse Taper fitting, the pronged drive will be a push fit into the spindle. have a look at pic 5 here... https://www.wwgoa.com/articles/getting- ... ng-basics/
ideally you will have a thread protector/ centre ejector on the spindle first, so when you need to remove the drive you simply unscrew the 'nut' which pushes the drive out of the spindle. see pic 4 here... http://www.wikihow.com/Use-a-Wood-Lathe

see this post for what happens if you dont have one... post748240.html?hilit=thread%20protector#p748240

you tube has a million and one videos to look at , some bad some good. recommended viewing is Bob Hamilton for one
