Thank you Bob not thought about using screws as an added precaution, I've always put a square of wood on either end to stop it splitting along the paper joint

I've just Duct taped the ends, but screws maybe better. Also I use newspaper in the joint which works fine.
Technique can also be used for ' inside out turning '

Bob - Thanks for posting a useful video - maybe need to reduce the run time by editing.

Edit On reflection - if you are doing 'inside out turning' with three or more staves you can't use screws as easily as the video ( which uses two staves) which is probably why I've used duct tape in the past .
