Hi all

I've been a member of this site for a few weeks now and have read through many of the posts, I must say guys it's a breath of fresh air to find such a friendly site with so many helpfull members who are willing to contribute and share their knowledge and experiences relating to woodwork etc.

I am not new to woodwork but-and by no means an expert, but I do enjoy general woodworking etc, I have over the years done a lot of DIY around the house (bought a house in need of renovation) and being a person who likes to have a go of most things (skin flint) I learnt as I went along. Over the years I have been lucky enough to gather a few tools/machines to make life easier (only use hand tools when I got to - LAZY!) and I will try and attach a few workshop photos shortly.

I'm 44 year old married guy with young kids and a full time job so don't get as much time down my workshop as i would like, but I should over the next year find a bit more time to myself when my youngest starts full time school. Until such time late nights in the workshop is my only chance, lucky enough my workshop is down the bottom of the garden approx 140' away from the house and/or nearest neighbour, and when I built it I made sure it was well insulated which helps with noise reduction.

Anyways I will stop babbling and leave you all get on.

Thanks all and be safe.

Gwilym

Hi Gwilym

WOW mate....that's some workshop and if this is a glimpse of your skills I think you are being a tad modest to say the least!

I know what you mean about "full time job"....

I "semi" retired last September and have never been so busy! Where on earth did I find time to do anything when I was in full time employment I don't know!

I think a few things single the UKW forum out from the rest...mostly the friendliness but the amount of activity does it for me. There is no point joining a forum where the only post comes once every few days (or sometimes months) with some...moderation is far from moderate... and the places are full of people with their own agendas.

I could name a few forums like that trust me! UKW is quite the opposite...great fun...controlled with logic and fairness...almost self governing by the rest of the members and highly active.

Hope you have fun as well as learning and contributing...you seem to have a lot to contribute!

Jim
