Ok that was weird.... and weird.

if you've not seen the advert a guy is holding a chicken and moving it's body, yet it's head stays spatially stationary relative to the movement.

I have no idea how...

the chicken at the end even move's it's head to look right, yet still stationary relative to it's spatial position...and the body is still being moved...

I'm impressed but I don't get it... how does it do that? WHY does it have that ability? what happened that made chickens think that was something it needed to be able to do?

Birds of prey, I get it - especially owls - but WHY chickens?

Is it a throwback from dinosaurs?

I don't often get "I don't get it" moments - but this one's a doozy...

It's a cool ad for sure.
Best on the box lately has got to be Hipster Troll Carwash

Good post - the answer is all to do with birds not having the vestibulo-ocular reflex, which uses rotation detectors in your inner ear, and the opto-kinetic reflex, which uses motion detectors in the retina of your eye - the birds have to compensate in other ways ie keeping the head constant.

Well at least that answer sounds reasonable

Well that's what I read here http://toughlittlebirds.com/2013/09/30/ ... hicken-ad/ ;)
