Very nice. Always fancied one of those carvers mallets. No lathe tho, so made a square type one instead.

Superb designs!

I particularly like the smaller one and its handle.

As you have found..there are many styles and sizes to choose from and each works better in specific roles.

You can never have enough mallets or hammers in my opinion and they are great ways to use up spare stock and hone your turning skills.

I've started to really enjoy turning. also the wood is just going to be dumped or chipped so might as well enjoy it and lean
i did try to turn a bigger one for a large mallet but it flew of the spindle so i called it a day ha.

im on the look out for some bowls balls now as i want a LV one, like yours jimmy

I'm looking at a Jet JWL1220 (with variable speed if I can afford it) which has 12" over the bed x 20" between centres or a Woodfast Midi M305X with the same capacity. Most work I do is between centres rather than bowl turning and quite short. I've been using a big old Woodfast at one of our local schools in the evening courtesy of my friend the woodwork teacher but new regulations have put a stop to that

That will be one of the first things I will ( try to ) make when I get my lathe. And ditto the LV brings a whole new use to old bowls

Is sell for sure but, I donk know how much punishment they can take and I wouldn't want to sell a dodgy mallet, still learning myself. They can be had for about £15 on ebay and are nice to. But I could make you one if you liked pm me and were talk about options
