Hi all , I have looked around here for a while and decided to join.
I have been doing a bit of woodwork to pass the time now that I
am retired. I have a fair bit of kit, (nothing fancy) saw bench, lathe,
band saw, drill press, router table etc. The only thing that might just
make me a bit different to most is, I don't buy wood if I can avoid it.
I scrounge from builders and others who have offcuts I walk through
the woods and collect fallen branches and go to the local sale room
when it is finished ans there are usually some odds and ends of
furniture left over they are glad for me to take away.
Look forward to some chat with some of you.
Roger.

Buy wood? Spoken like a true Yorkie!
Me neither by the way, I've had more hardwoods given to me than I can store once people knew that I did woodwork.
The biggest advantage I find with old furniture etc is that it has probably done all the 'moving' that it's ever gonna do.
And welcome BTW.

Roy.

Welcome to the forum Roger. If you've got any pics of things you've made I know I won't be the only one keen to see them :)

Do you like The Eagles by any chance? The topic name...

Hi Roy, yes I have pictures of things I have made but
I am a bit of a computer idiot and have no idea how to post
pictures. Sorry.

Not a bad band but not a particular favorite of mine.

WE have plenty of snow so how about a swop.
Our snow for some of your hard wood.

You collect you can have some, but you can keep the snow!
There were five hardwood doors there this morning.

Roy.

If there's anything you're particularly after I'll keep my open and send you a PM if/when it turns up, then you can collect when it suits you.

Roy.
