Hi folks,

New to the forums but not new to turning.

I have been turning on and off for the last few years. Stopped about a year ago due to moving house/work, but have just really got back into things. I was at a meal last week, and someone asked if I can make "oil/candle lamps" (ten of them) for an upcoming wedding.!

Whilst hunting around the net, it seems that in the U.K finding "straight sided candle/oil lamp sleeves" of the right size is next to impossible. Ideally I am after: 3 inch diameter x 6+ inch height open at both ends. All I seem to be able to find are vase type holders (closed at one end) or "bulge" type oil lamp glass.

Does anyone know where I can find these? I am a bit dubious about ordering from the U.S/Canada as postage is nearly the same as the items and delivery time is anywhere from a month to six weeks.

Any help is more than welcome.

Cheers,

Andy.

How about gathering up some clear glass bottles and cutting off the tops and bottoms?
You may have to drink some beer or white wine, but I expect you could get some help with that.

I'm sure YouTube will have lots of demos of "upcycling" bottles and expect at least one of the methods will work.

Hi

Many thanks for the replies.

I have looked into the cutting bottles (fair few after the Christmas period) but each I have tried ended up with jagged edges that are too random for sanding: Will continue though, and one day....

The links are perfect. Sent an email to cbgold asking about pricing etc, hopefully I'll know soon. And it looks like the Ikea one is two pieces.

Again, many thanks.

Andy.
