I need advice on a drill.

I'm going to build a bog standard corner tv stand. Nothing fancy whatsoever, however I'm not sure what type of Drill that I'll need.

I want a strong one that will last a long time. Thank you

No idea what your budget is, but if you want a drill that'll probably be the only drill you'll ever need the answer is a Festool PDC.

Well, you didn't buy the Festool as was recommended! :)

Looks to get good reviews for a budget affair.

It is NiCad based, which means that it will be heavier compared to equivalent li-ion models, but if you are just using it for DIY I am sure your arm will be able it handle it.

It refers to the battery technology used in the drill. Just the same as in mobile phone. NI-cad - nickel cadmium, this type of battery is an loder technology which doesn't hold a charge for as long as the newer Li-ion ones. It also suffers from what is know as " Charge Memory" in that every time you recharge the battery if it has not been fully discharged the it sort of resets when it thinks its empty to the level of where it was when you last started to charge it. This means that over time the battery holds less and less charge and means that you can use if for shorter and shorter periods before you have to recharge. Li-ion - lithium ion is a newer type of battery and doesn't suffer from this problem and holds a charge for far longer and is able to push out the charge to the drill more smoothly and for longer periods giving you a much longer working time in relation to a like for like Nicad.

Well, I would say you haven't done so bad! For not a lot of money you will now be able to tackle most jobs.
Hopefully, When you need to replace this stuff, you will know in what direction you're interest lay,
And spend a bit more on more capable tools, or take up stamp collecting!
Regards Rodders

Having said that about the battery problems down the line with ni-cad's once the battery dies you can just wire it direct with an 18v power adaptor - simply cut the end off and solder to the terminals and you've got an instant screwdriver. I did that to an old 18v nicad drill I had that I now use so I don't have to keep swapping chucks when at my workbench.
