Hi

I have a small pine box that I am intending to stain with a natural stain, possibly coffee. Can anyone advise a natural finish? I don't want to use chemicals of any kind. Would linseed oil be a good thing to use?

As many will know I have a pet aversion to oils. I would use Van **** crystals....

A natural water-based wood dye (supplied in crystal form) made from walnut husks that have been through a boiling process. Once made up the Vandyke wood stain can be easily applied to wooden surfaces, furniture or flooring with a sponge, paint brush or spray system.

The colour produced by this natural stain can be easily adjusted by adding a concentrated dye such as red, yellow, orange or brown.

If it gets too dark then you can lighten it by wiping water over. NB...you will need to de-nib any raised grain afterwards but that isn;t really a problem.

I have a large bag and so can spare a bit for you to try if you like..to save you buying a huge bag which lasts for ever!
