New Horizons will fly past Pluto on July 14. The spacecraft already has covered more than 3 billion miles since it launched on January 19, 2006. It will pass Pluto at a speed of 31,000 mph, taking thousands of images and making a wide range of other science observations.

It's amazing what is going on up there. I watched the BBC4 programme about the Voyager probes this week. Voyager 1 has been flying(?) away from Earth for 35 years, is now about 12 billion miles away and they are still able to communicate with it. They predict that that will still be possible for at least another 10 years.
