It's taken a few weeks to get this old timer into shape but well worth it :)
Nothing to major needed changing it was more cleaning up, small repairs and checking every nut and bolt, the concrete pads are 600mm thick below the floor.

Glad to see that the lathe is sorted Dean and that you are producing some very nice looking pieces :D
Will we be seeing more :?:
What finish have you put on those two :?:

Lathe looks good Dean... you've certainly put it to good use!

I like both pieces, well executed, well finished....more!

(hadn't realised that Kidderminster was an earthquake zone  )

Hi Paul, I'll see what I can come up with next  but I'll have to learn how to take half decent pictures pictures, I took loads of pics but most of them were no good
The finish on both is just sanding sealer worked in by hand with a clean wipe and some homebrewed wax. I finish the last two grades of sanding by hand to reduce the machine marks.

If it does get nicked....

Should be easy to track down anyone suffering from a recent hernia

That machine and shop look far to clean Dean.

Some good sized pieces of Laburnum you have crafted. The figuring on the Vase is an unusual, differing somewhat from the norm. expected from most pieces.

Very nice turnings,Dean :D

Both nice, uncomplicated shapes that let the beauty of the wood show through;finish also looks excellent on both.

Andrew

Some excellent work there Dean, the turnings AND the lathe. That machine ain't goin' walkabout with a unbalanced load. :)

PS - I can only echo Chas, that shop is far too clean!

It was a small five inch log, I think its the gradual movement through the different layers of wood that makes it look that way, It's not how I imagined it would look

That part of the shop and machine had a quick sweep up before taking the picture, what you can't see is the mess the rest of the shop is in 8)
