I've got an Axi bench mortiser which came with a set of 3 tin coated chisels, they served me well until I tried a bit of oak yesterday, nicely bent corners (beyond redemption I'm afraid) on the largest of the chisels. I was probably asking a bit too much of what was a comparitively cheap (OK in my case they were gratis as they were thrown in with the mortiser) set.
can anyone suggest a replacement and somewhere from which to purchase it, ideally I only need to replace the 3/4 chisel but I daresay the 1/2 inch would suffer a similar fate should I use it on the oak so possibly looking at a set of 2 or 3. I've had a look on the axi site and they do some by clico but my morticer only accepts 3/4' shank chisels and the clico ones are 13/16, theres also some japanese ones but the shank size isn't specified.
