Aldi are doing a moisture meter this week for £12.99.
I got one and it seems to be quite good. Very simple to use and will help a lot with the logs I am drying out.

I've been using one for 8+ months now an find it very good, more than good enough for my needs, use it in preference to my other basic model.

Its advertised on their website as one of the offers for 05/09/2013 so I would think its in all their stores yes.

It also has an LED light and will measure both wood and building materials like plaster.

I brought one on Thursday and first impressions are very good. It comes with a 3 year guarantee and at the price Aldi are charging it can't be bad. I don't think it could be used on a commercial basis, but for giving you a general idea on moisture content of timber I think it fits the bill.

I bought one today and it seems reasonable. The thermometer is has built in (not sure why mind) is wildly inaccurate. It read 26C in my garage when it was 15 so that didn't bode well. However, the readings I'm getting in the different woods I tried were a good guide and useful.

Bought one myself today and to be honest im impressed I got a axminster one and its almost on par with it for the money a decent product if it fails not a lot wasted tested on my log store today and a new plum tree I took in from a friend showed up decent readings
Regards
Bill
