Mid range Table Saw

Hello there, first post!

I'm looking to get started with a bit of kit for my workshop here in Ireland.

Could anyone recommend good table saws in the range of £1000 please.

and if you know there avail here in Ireland all the better,

Would you please tell us a bit about what kind of use you have for it and how much space you have and what your electrical supply is like.

1000 pounds could with a bit of luck buy you a professional full sized Altendorf or Martin sliding panel saw secondhand........ or it could buy you a very heavily built all cast iron traditional table saw also secondhand......... or it could buy you a good old Wadkin rip saw with a 600 mm blade....... or it could buy you a very nice and compact cabinet saw like a Wadkin-Bursgreen AGS or a Rapid secondhand.... or it could buy you a new hobbyist's table saw made in China.
All those fall within the same prize bracket but they are made for very different uses and are the best buy for some very different users.

As a general rule you will get by far the best machine for a given budget if you buy an elderly machine and fix it up. Simply because ordinary woodworking machinery has developed little in the last 70 years and elderly machines were usually built to last. You can buy a secondhand industrial machine and rebuild it to as new condition for the prize of a new consumer grade machine which is always inferrior to it's industrial counterpart. However everybody don't have the required time and skill to do such a rebuild or to do any kind of repair on a machine. Hence a new machine might be the best buy for some people. Space is also a constraint. A too big machine in a too small space will always be impractical in the long run and consequently not a good buy for that particular user even if it was almost free.

We are all different both as persons and as woodworkers........so......what are your needs and your constraints?

i have recently bought the sip 01332 10" saw, also from ireland (north) bought it off a company up here that did free delivery and saw was £1050, very very heavy saw, great quality, quiet, good bit of kit
