Hi,

I have just bought second hand a Metabo T170 spindle moulder. Unfortunately it has a few bits missing and I am struggling to find parts because evidently it was made by Lurem and they are now out of business. I think I can make up most of the bits I need but most crucially I am after the fixing which holds the cutters down onto the shaft. There is two holes either side of a threaded hole on top of the shaft and I am assuming that there was originally some kind of washer with pins in it and a bolt which fed through the washer and held it on top of the shaft. If anyone can give me any information on this it would be very gratefully received. I am not sure if this is a common fixing found on a lot of spindle moulders or quite unique to Lurem. I am also after the length of extruded aluminium which forms the fence which sits on top of the sliding table.

Any info parts diagrams etc would be amazing.

Thanks,

Ryan

Thanks so much for the parts diagram. It seems to show the components I need which is great. Do you know if it is still possible to get hold of any lurem parts?

Thanks,

Ryan.

Thanks.

Unfortunately I spoke to them yesterday and they were not able to get hold of any parts or recommend anyone who could.

I have hear that the parts held by lurem before they closed were bought up by one company I assume it would be a French company. Guess I need to get the French - English dictionary out and go through google again.

Thanks so much for your help,

Ryan.

I think Record used to badge some of the Lurem kit so you might just get some info from them as to where/if the spares stock went.

I suspect you will end up having to make parts for the spindle to suit the lurem design - which does not sound like other spindles I've seen - even Kity - also of French origin.
Fences and table accessories will be easy to fabricate from ply or mdf. More often that not I use a sacrificial mdf fence and allow the cutter to protrude through for maximum support of the workpiece.
Take care - Spindles don't take prisoners!
