Good day everyone, I'm looking to purchase one of those new brushless makita jigsaws, Specially I'm eyeing up the barrel grip DJV181.
However...they have a bit eye watering prices at around £160,specially for an unprecise tool such as jigsaw :)
On the other hand I could just wait for some used older makita 4351fct to come up for sale with a lead for 3x less and still have a jigsaw, but not a portable one and as ergonomic as that one looks. I have been wanting a new nice portable jigsaw for a while, but I'm still not convinced about their price.

If anyone have used either of the models and could maybe give some feedback and whatever they are worth the pricetag or not that would be great.

I also have the d grip version, and I rate it highly. Can justify the price as I'm using it every day at work. Beats my corded festool hands down. Only minor niggle is you can't turn the light off, on some colours of mfc I find the light actually makes it harder to see your pencil line as it reflects off the surface.

what made you guys choose the D handle one? I saw some videos and the djv181 looked much more compact than the 182 ,the only thing I didn't liked by looking at them is the on/off switch so it keeps running all the time until you turn it off, on the D handle it looked much better, however that's the only thing I noticed and I think the more compact unit would win me over just based on the size of it.

I went for the d handle mainly due to the trigger. Being able to start, stop and adjust speed won me over... but it's also what I'm used to and have never laid hands on a barrel grip so I'm likely a bit stuck in my ways too.

I've flirted with barrel grips in the past but they just never really felt right to me. Better if you are using it upside down as many kitchen fitters will do.

I rarely read reviews on websites where you can also buy the stuff, ok I glance over to see if there are no obvious faults mentioned.
But If you check reviews on a £160 jigsaw and on a £20 jigsaw on amazon you will see both have the same stars and everyone will have reviewed both of them as super good, even you can't possibly even compare both and the £20 tool will be total garbage compared to the £160 tool in reality ;) see where the problem is... :D

Anyway I just Ordered the DJV181z , angliatoolcentre website has some xmas offer where they sell the jigsaw+ give free battery with it,
so after you use their 5% coupon/use quidco for another 7.7% back and than sell the free battery the tool comes out to about £130 , still bloody expensive for a jigsaw...

Of course. People are rating them as they think, including whether they are value - they don't set out to judge them against something else. If someone gives your Makita five stars you're not going to say it must be billhooks because someone only gave a Festool four, are you? In any case, you appear to make your mind up before asking the question in the first place.
