Anyone got one of these? if so whats it like? Don't really want to pay the extra for a Bostitch one and the Axi one is 24g which seems to mean i would be tied to their pins only.

There's only a couple of quid (LIES it's actually £20?) in not getting the Bostitch Pete. I have one and I love it. Double trigger means you can fire away from the work piece if you want a temporary pin in there you can pull out after.

Bostitch stuff seems to come with a different hose end on it though.

the Makita can be had for £75 so the difference is more like £40 which pays for some pins and a few pints but the bostitch dose go up to 30mm - just not sure how much i will use it as i only discovered air tools this weekend thanks to an impulse buy in Machine mart.

strange how the choice is so limited in the UK

I know I was stretching it at £20 :)

But you own a Kapex so it doesn't matter.

I own a Kapex because i am a d**k head #-o

I am getting tight this year as already bought a Deros and RO90 and am supposed to be saving money to move house later this year (mainly saving for a PT, bandsaw and router table for the workshop i have insisted the new house must have 8) )

i'll have add the bostitch to the list then as the link you provided is the cheapest i have seen

The distance firing of the 30mm pins is very handy sometimes though.

If you do go for that one, ring to order as I don't think they list the pins on the website, or they didn't anyway, even though they sell all of them.

I like the smell of toast, wouldn't buy a Kapex though :) - it is interesting that Festool USA appears to now be taking the complaints that used to be shut down by mods on the FOG seriously.

not sure i would call the response i saw as a company taking it seriously and as it currently stands no update from Festool UK. I am mainly concerned because as a hobbyist I don't use it as much as trade would do. Thought about selling it but the only altrnative (and one i left off the list for Stu) is the big heavy Bosch one with the fancy gimble arm arrangement.... Will wait and see what Festool UK come up with first though i think. If only i didn't have an OCD instance on buying expensive tools!

back to the pinner - what size pins do you find most usefull? I will grab some 25mm anyway as want them for some laminate beading but after that i will be inventing jobs for it more than having anything specific lined up (suspect that will all change when we move as plan is to buy a do'er up'er.)

More seriously than the usual mouths shouting about how great Festool are and what an idiot you must be for having a problem with a Carvex or a 110v Kapex. I don't go there any more though, just a spot of schadenfreude every so often as a guest.

30, 18 and 15 sometimes. Mostly mouldings really. 30 are handy for firing away from the piece for glueing, 18 seem to hit the right spot as 15 tends not to be quite long enough. I expect 25mm would be useful over the 30 though, not a lot in it.

ordered the Bostitch from CTS along with some 18mm and 25mm pins. Looked at the makita manual on the UK site and could not see anything relating to a safety mechanism on it so decided the Bostitch looked the better bet when you also factor in the downward exhaust port.

shame the little Hitachi pinner is not readily available in the UK as that looks to be very similar to the Grex pinner with the stepped magazine fo allow better corner access.

Expecting it Friday so give me a new thing to play with this weekend.

It's got a very pointy end that gets into all sorts of nooks and crannies.
