Hi all, today I've been playing with some tools I haven't used for some time and decided to upgrade my bowl gouge sharpening jig from wood to metal. I bought a couple of square tubes that fit inside each other just for this purpose - it will end up similar to other jigs I've seen on auction sites etc.

This is my first attempt - I am not a welder by any stretch of the imagination so I'm not making excuses for what it looks like.

The bolt that secures the gouge will be cut down and given a lovely wooden grip to it.

I am pleased with how it works, but will make another one anyway to see if I can make the welding neater and I need to make a metal section for the end of the shaft to sit in, as I'm using my older wooden one at the moment.
