This one looks quite old. The corresponding fitting is a small plate with a tiny ball on it that goes into the hole you can see on the edge. I have no idea what this type of lock is called and so Googling is a bit difficult.

To give you some idea of scale, it is about 6/7 mm deep. The piece it sits in is 18mm thick.

I suspect that I may be unlucky.
 
Thanks for the links, Charlie. The actual closing mechanism of the two doors is at 90 degrees hence the need for the small ball which is 'captured' inside the lock.

Will try googling cupboard lock.
