Many thanks to all you folks for getting back to me. I am currently in Derby & have used the Toolshop over the years to buy some nice pieces - Kity Table Saw, Freud Router, now used under a table, Bosch planer, Freud Bixcuit Joiner, Delta Band Saw etc and have always found them very helpful and willing. I bought my first Radial Arm Saw from Buxton many years ago(Ryobi) and it is still going strong, although pretty noisy. My biggest problem now is that I can no longer drive and have had to give up work through ill health. Not good at 52. There is a very good bus service right outside the door where I will be living which goes to Derby and Nottingham so I will make visits when I go to see family in those areas. Money is tight but so it is for everyone, thus my interest in locally sourcingl reclaimed material both for cost and quality. One firm I have already contacted is only a couple of miles away and they will deliver, provided the order is for sufficient material. I am also thinking of putting an advert in the local press asking for unwanted or damaged furniture from which I cxn repair or rebuild other pieces.
I thoroughly enjoy making one off "turnip" size pieces for people to match the style, colour and finish of their other furniture and devising home made jigs to tackle individual tasks.
The first job when I move will be to build and fit out a new workshop in the back yard which is walled on three sides and very secure. I can at last plan out a shop which is designed around me and my Kit without having to take into account the often conflicting wishes of a wife and family.
Thanks again everyone and good luck with any projects you have going over Easter.
May the Force be with you.
