My wife has asked me to make a step chair, I have searched extensively but can't seem to find any decent plans, any ideas would be most welcome.

There was a lovely one in British woodworking earlier last year which is on my round tuit list

I bought a very nice full sized set of plans from Furniture Designs inc (#714) to use up some of my Iroko, but I haven't got around to making it yet although I have started machining the wood for it.

My problem is I need a piece 1 & 5/8" x 6" x 15.5" and the thickest I can machine the Iroko down to is 1 & 1/8".

I have thought of Laminating two boards together and then thicknessing down to the final thickness but there has to be a curve cut into the piece which ends up as a 3/4" thick curved rail and I do not know how well the lamination would look or hold up in this instance.
