Hello,

I need some advice on what exotic woods I can buy abroad.

I am not a company, but I do snooker cues as a hobby.

I know that wood needs to be responsibly sourced, and that there is paperwork etc involved.

I want to make sure I buy in a responsible manner and that I do not break any laws.

Questions:

1. If I buy ebony from an UK hardwood supplier, do I need to ask for paperwork, or is this their responsibility?

2. If I buy ebony from a Chinese cue manufacture, (cut & prepared ready to glue on), do I need to ask for paperwork, or is this their responsibility?

I just what to do the right thing, and not land up in trouble over a hobby I am passionate about.

Thanks

Shouldn't be too difficult to ask the suppliers to confirm the source I would have thought. An e-mail or phone call should do it.
Malcolm
