I've just cut down some laurel hedging "Prunus laurocerasus" common laurel, I think.

Some pieces are 80-100mm thick. The wood looks a little like holly but without the nice smell that goes with it.

Is this stuff worth keeping? Has anyone used it, and if so, what for, and with what successs?

Cheers, W2S

Reputedly releases cyanide gas when burned! Don't know about utility as timber, pretty dense stuff might be good for tool handles??

So should be alright for knocking up a few homemade WMDs then.

I think you'll find it's the leaves and berries which produce cyanide and you need to chew them,,, :?: but I still wouldn't use it as the shavings are also reputed to have some effect, presumably when wet..
